What is the Jersey Biopharma Council?
The Jersey Biopharma Council (the Council) is an industry body representing
organisations and individuals operating in Jersey’s regulated biopharmaceutical sector.
What does the Council do?
The Council supports the development of Jersey’s biopharmaceutical sector by:
- facilitating dialogue between industry and policymakers
- encouraging high operational and governance standards
- providing a coordinated industry perspective on sector development
The Council does not act as a regulator. Regulatory oversight remains the responsibility of the relevant authorities.
What is the biopharmaceutical sector in Jersey?
Jersey’s regulated biopharmaceutical sector includes organisations and individuals involved in the cultivation, processing and development of regulated biopharmaceutical products.
The sector operates within an established licensing framework designed to ensure that activities are conducted responsibly and in accordance with regulatory requirements.

How is the sector regulated?

Regulatory oversight in Jersey is the responsibility of the relevant Jersey authorities. The Jersey Biopharma Council is not a regulator and does not have any role in the licensing or enforcement process.
Who can become a member of the Council?
Membership of the Jersey Biopharma Council is open to individuals and organisations that are lawfully authorised or professionally qualified to operate within the biopharmaceutical sector in Jersey.
This includes holders of licences or qualifications for cultivation, research, manufacturing, or other regulated activities. Both corporate and individual membership is available.
Does the Council represent all companies in the sector?
The Council represents its member organisations and provides a forum through which industry participants can collaborate and engage with policymakers.

Is the Council a government body?
No. The Jersey Biopharma Council is an industry body made up of companies operating within the sector.
The Council works constructively with government and regulators but does not form part of government.
